The Federal Government has substantial influence on the management of the lake front of Lake Winnipeg. Through various departments such as Fisheries and Environment Canada the Federal Government regulates and monitors activities on the lake. In addition, the various levels of the court system have dealt with legal arguments that have particular application to various aspects of Lake Winnipeg. Finally, each province has dealt with the issue of erosion and shoreline management and their policies have relevance to Lake Winnipeg.
